If you throw a bullet in the opponent’s face they can pass through the bullets either by highjumping or dashing, and this video shows how you can punish either jumping or dashing (note, most characters can’t cover both directions at the same time, but some can), and what you can do if they ‘just block’.
This technique is really essential to use against people who can consistently block high/low melee mixups. On the other hand, if you don’t want to risk the opponent escaping your bullet trap you can use a 22 instead of a bullet, since you can’t move through melee attacks anyway (shown at the end of the Suika video). It’s just that 22s end pressure sequences if they are blocked correctly.
The order that most of these appear is as follows, depending on whats applicable to the character shown:
= High jump coverage
- Foward dash coverage
- Graze move trap
- Block string
- Air tight block string for guard crush.
As we can see, Yuyuko doesn’t really have a way to counter HJ movement since her bullets and bullet cancels are so incredibly slow; therefor she has to use actual frame traps. Likewise, Remilia doesn’t have much for HJ movement, but on the flipside she also has a completely airtight GC sequence.
Hong also doesn’t have very good bullets or bullet cancels, so just like Yuyuko she relies on frametraps.
